I have a passion (or perhaps an obsession?) for finding those “perfect” items full of purpose and meaning for my home, gifts for loved-ones, and great finds for myself (yes, that is ok 🙂 ). I enjoy searching through catalogs, magazines, and the Internet to find these items. In 2011 I decided to start sharing these great finds with others so I created The Mindful Shopper Website!
On The Mindful Shopper you will find unique and special items that I have carefully selected for you. I have chosen the concept of mindful shopping for this website, meaning I only include those items that fulfill one or more of these four specific categories: (1) COMFORTING; (2) JOYFUL; (3) INSPIRATIONAL; and (4) BEAUTIFUL. I only came to appreciate the importance of these four words over the last year few years. In the past, I would often revisit my purchases after shopping and realize that I did not feel happy about them (sometimes even guilty). It dawned on me that when I bought items that fulfilled one or more of these categories, I felt so much more content about the money I spent.
This mindful shopping concept has caused me to reconsider buying items on impulse when I was in the mood to just “get something”. I have stopped buying items just because they were on sale or items that would not have a special purpose in my life or in the life of a loved one. I developed a new appreciation for shopping and money, and the wonderful emotions that can be evoked by finding that perfect item full of purpose and meaning. My hope is that The Mindful Shopper is able to do the same for you!

Amy, I was on the 64 things about “grief” and I found your name. …It has been about a year since you posted that but, I can’t imagine what type of grieving process you could be experiencing…If you were someone who could be a healer / doctor one day and eventually couldn’t do what you loved and was passionate about….It has to be a daily struggle. My heart just connected with you and I just want to say thank you for sharing. I was on the website because my dad tragically passed away last week and I am just looking for ways to cope. Its going to be a tough journey but, I have family support. I will look on your site! Thank you and have a good day

Hello Jennifer:
Wow, so kind of you to take the time to write such a thoughtful message to me. You must be a pretty neat person. 🙂
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. This has got to be very difficult, especially around the Holidays. Please know that my family and I will be praying for you and your family, sending you comfort and peace.
Sincerely,
Amy Kelsch
